Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Russia’s massive overnight and early morning attack on Ukraine, which involved over 100 missiles and around 100 Shahed drones, AP News reports.
The assault, which began around midnight and continued into the morning, targeted critical civilian infrastructure across 15 Ukrainian regions, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, and areas in the west. This marked one of Russia’s largest attacks in recent weeks. The barrage caused significant damage to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, resulting in power and water outages in Kyiv and other areas. At least three people were killed and thirteen injured.
Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal called for long-range weapons from allies to target Russian missile launch sites, emphasizing the need to retaliate against the attacks. Poland and NATO activated air defenses in eastern Poland.
Meanwhile, Russian officials reported a Ukrainian drone attack that injured four people in the central Saratov region. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that 22 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over several Russian regions.
