A Romanian court placed internet personality Andrew Tate under house arrest after he and his brother Tristan were detained in an investigation into human trafficking and sexual exploitation, Reuters reports.
The two were among six people arrested after Romanian authorities conducted searches in Ilfov county and Bucharest. Romanian prosecutors had requested a 30-day detention for both brothers, but the judge decided to place Andrew under house arrest and Tristan under judicial control for 30 days.
Previously, they were indicted in mid-2023 on charges related to human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang, charges they deny. Romanian prosecutors accuse them of using the “loverboy” method to exploit 34 victims for online pornography to generate significant profits.
