Ukraine Launches One of the Largest Ever Drone Attacks on Moscow

Ukraine launched a major drone attack on Moscow, with Russian officials claiming that 11 drones were shot down over the capital, marking one of the largest such attacks since the war began in February 2022, Reuters reports.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported destroying a total of 45 drones across several regions, including Moscow, Bryansk, Belgorod, Kaluga, and Kursk, as well as a missile over Rostov. This strike is part of an ongoing conflict that has seen Ukraine increasingly targeting Russian infrastructure, including refineries and airfields, though major assaults on Moscow are less common. The drone attack led to temporary disruptions at Moscow’s airports, but no injuries or damage were reported. Despite the scale of the attack, no significant damage was reported.

Meanwhile, intense battles continue in Russia’s western Kursk region, where Ukraine has made incursions and gained ground, marking the largest foreign attack on Russian territory since World War II.
