Bus Crash in Iran Kills At Least 28 Pakistani Pilgrims

A bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims in central Iran overturned, resulting in the deaths of 28 passengers and injuring 23 others, with seven in critical condition, Reuters reports.

The accident occurred in Yazd province due to a technical defect in the bus’s braking system. Among the deceased were 11 women and 17 men, with seven of the injured in critical condition. Pakistani consular officials have been invited to Yazd to address the situation, and Iran’s Foreign Ministry expressed condolences to Pakistan and the victims’ families.

The pilgrims were traveling for the Arbaeen pilgrimage in Iraq, a significant event for Shi’ite Muslims, marking the 40th day of mourning for Imam Hussein, a key figure in Shi’ite Islam.
