British police charged a 17-year-old with murder for a stabbing attack that killed three young girls and injured several others during a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga class in Southport, AP News.
The suspect, whose name is withheld due to age, faces three counts of murder and ten of attempted murder. The victims, aged 6, 7, and 9, were among two dozen children attending the workshop. The attack injured ten others, with seven in critical condition.
The incident spurred far-right protests, leading to clashes with police in Southport and London, injuring over 50 officers and resulting in over 100 arrests. The suspect was confirmed to be British-born by police, contrary to rumors of his being an asylum-seeker, spread by far-right activists.
