Two children were killed and nine others injured, six critically, in a stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga event for children aged six to eleven at a community center in Southport, northwest England, Reuters reports.
A 17-year-old male was arrested by police on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. The motive remains unclear but is not believed to be terrorism-related. Two adults, who tried to protect the children, were also critically injured. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles expressed their shock and offered condolences to the victims’ families.
