Russia reported it had taken control of two villages in Ukraine’s eastern front line, including Pishchane Nizhne in the Kharkiv region and Andriivka (also known as Rozivka) in the Luhansk region, Kyiv has not yet commented on these developments, AP News reports.
In the northern Sumy region, Russia launched a missile strike on critical infrastructure in the city of Shostka, resulting in the destruction of two heating facilities. The city’s mayor Mykola Noha urged residents to conserve electricity and stock up on water.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that its air defense systems had destroyed eight drones over Belgorod and the Black Sea. Additionally, Russian air defenses intercepted two long-range ballistic ATACMS missiles over the Kherson region, which were heading towards Russian-annexed Crimea.
In the town of Shebekino in Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, nine people were wounded by shelling over the previous day, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
The conflict, now in its third year, has seen minimal changes along the 1,000-kilometer (600-mile) front line, Russia’s recent offensives in eastern and northeastern Ukraine have resulted in only minor gains. Both sides are focusing on attacking infrastructure to hinder each other’s military capabilities.
