Three teenagers, two girls aged 15 and 16, and a 15-year-old boy, have been arrested in western Germany on suspicion of planning an Islamic extremist attack, Associated Press reports.
The trio, from different parts of North Rhine-Westphalia state, were apprehended after warrants were issued over the Easter weekend. The suspects are believed to have expressed readiness to carry out an “Islamist-motivated terror attack,” but the extent of their plans remains undisclosed due to their young age and the ongoing investigation.
They are currently in custody while prosecutors consider potential charges related to plotting violence and declaring intent to commit murder. Reports suggest that the teenagers had formed a chat group but had not yet finalized a concrete plan for an attack.
