Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted that Russia cannot be a target for Islamic fundamentalists, following a mass shooting near Moscow claimed by Islamic State militants, Reuters reports.
Putin emphasized that the main objective behind the attack was to undermine Russia’s unity. He asserted that Russia exemplifies interfaith harmony and unity, making it an unlikely target for terrorist attacks.
Russia has accused Ukraine of orchestrating the attack without presenting evidence. Ukraine has denied involvement and the United States, which warned Russia beforehand of an impending attack, dismissed Moscow’s claims as unfounded.
