Judge Dismisses Elon Musk’s Lawsuit Against Hate Speech Watchdog

A US judge has dismissed Elon Musk’s lawsuit against the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), stating that Musk’s X Corp sued the nonprofit in retaliation for criticism, Reuters reports.

The lawsuit accused CCDH of spreading false information about X Corp’s moderation policies, leading to financial damages. The ruling upholds the right of groups like CCDH to hold social media companies accountable. The judge noted that X Corp seemed more concerned about CCDH’s speech than its data collection methods. The judge also dismissed X Corp’s claims against the European Climate Foundation (ECF).

The decision is a setback for Musk, who has faced criticism for his handling of misinformation on Twitter since acquiring the social media platform. Musk, who has styled himself as a free-speech advocate, plans to appeal.
