France raised its security alert to the highest level following the deadly attack at a Russian concert hall, claimed by an affiliate of the Islamic State group, Associated Press reports.
Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced the decision, citing the IS claim and threats against France. President Emmanuel Macron convened an emergency security meeting after the attack, which killed more than 130 people in Moscow.
France, which has faced previous IS attacks, is already on high alert due to security concerns surrounding the upcoming Paris Olympics and Paralympics, especially for the opening ceremony involving large crowds along the Seine River.
