A Romanian court has approved Britain’s request to extradite influencer Andrew Tate, but the extradition will be postponed until Romanian trial proceedings conclude, Reuters reports.
Andrew and his brother Tristan were released from police custody immediately after being detained for 24 hours pending the court’s ruling. The arrest warrant, issued by a London court, relates to allegations of sexual aggression dating back to 2012-2015, which both brothers deny.
The Tate brothers, along with two Romanian women, were indicted in Romania in June on charges including human trafficking and rape, which they have denied. The case is awaiting a decision from the Bucharest court’s preliminary chamber to determine if the trial can proceed, with Romanian courts experiencing backlogs.
The brothers were previously held in police custody and under house arrest as part of the ongoing investigation. Currently, they are under judicial control, allowing them freedom of movement within Romania with regular police check-ins.
