At Least 18 Killed in Russian Missile Attacks on Ukraine

Russia has launched a series of missile attacks on Ukraine’s major cities, resulting in at least 18 deaths and over 130 injuries, Al Jazeera reports.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that around 40 missiles of various types were launched, hitting over 200 sites, including 139 homes, in cities like Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson. Ukraine’s armed forces claimed to have destroyed 22 missiles, with nearly 20 shot down over Kyiv.

Kharkiv suffered multiple waves of attacks, causing significant damage to high-rise apartment blocks. Emergency services reported damage to apartment buildings, medical facilities, and educational institutions in Kyiv.

The Kremlin denied targeting civilians, stating that the raids hit companies involved in the production of missiles, explosives, and ammunition.
