Elon Musk, facing accusations of allowing antisemitic content on his social media platform X, visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp ahead a scheduled appearance at an antisemitism conference in Krakow, Poland, Associated Press reports.
Musk, who purchased X (formerly Twitter) in 2022, has been criticized for tolerating antisemitic messages on X. In November, he responded to a user’s antisemitic comment on X, causing public outcry and advertiser boycotts, he later apologized. Major brands like Disney and IBM stopped advertising on X due to concerns about pro-Nazi and white nationalist content.
Musk visited Birkenau with Ben Shapiro, a Daily Wire podcaster, laying a wreath at the “Wall of Death” and participating in a memorial ceremony. Auschwitz saw over 1.1 million deaths during World War II, mostly Jews, with Musk’s visit preceding International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27.
