Ukraine Claims to Have Shot Down Two Russian Command and Control Aircrafts

Ukraine’s air force has reportedly shot down a Russian early warning and control plane (Beriev A-50) and a key command center aircraft (Il-22), crucial for coordinating Russian battlefield movements in the ongoing conflict, Associated Press reports.

Ukraine’s military chief Gen. Valeriy Zaluzhnyi did not disclose how the aircraft were brought down but mentioned that Ukraine has received sophisticated air defense systems from Western allies.

Russia has maintained air dominance in the conflict, making the reported shootdown a significant development. The incident could signal a landmark feat for Ukraine in the nearly two-year war.

There has been no immediate official comment from Moscow, but Russian war bloggers suggested both planes may have come under friendly fire, though without providing evidence.
