Boeing CEO Admits Error After 737 Max Door Panel Mishap

Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun acknowledged a “mistake” after a door plug on a 737 Max 9 blew out during an Alaska Airlines flight, causing a hole in the fuselage and leading to the grounding of the aircraft type, CNBC reports.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grounded the 737 Max 9s for inspection following the incident. Both Alaska Airlines and United Airlines reported finding loose parts in the same area of other inspected Max 9s.

Calhoun expressed concern for passenger safety and emphasized the company’s commitment to working with the National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA to investigate the incident and ensure the safety of future flights.

Boeing has faced challenges in recent years, including defects and reputational issues after fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019.
