Riots Break Out in Dublin After Stabbing Attack That Injured Three Children

Violent clashes erupted in central Dublin following a knife attack that left a 5-year-old girl seriously injured and a woman and two other young children hospitalized, AP News reports.

The motive for the knife attack is under investigation, with a man in his 50s considered a “person of interest.” The incident is believed to be a standalone event, not necessarily connected to wider issues in the country.

Over 100 people took to the streets, some armed with metal bars and concealing their faces. More than 400 officers, many in riot gear, were deployed to contain the unrest.

Rioters clashed with police, damaged vehicles, set a bus and car on fire, and looted a Foot Locker store. Public transport was suspended, and businesses urged employees to work from home.
