Former UK Prime Minister David Cameron Appointed as Foreign Secretary

Former British Prime Minister David Cameron has made a surprise return to high office after being appointed as the new foreign secretary in a major cabinet reshuffle by current UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, AP News reports.

Cameron’s appointment follows the firing of Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who faced criticism for accusing the police of being too lenient with pro-Palestinian protesters. Braverman was replaced by James Cleverly, the former foreign secretary.

Cameron, who led the UK government from 2010 to 2016, called the 2016 EU membership referendum and resigned after the country voted for Brexit, he has been largely out of front-line politics for the past seven years.
