X (formerly Twitter) is launching an early version of video and audio calling, according to chief technology officer and owner Elon Musk, Reuters reports.
In August, he hinted at this feature, emphasizing that users wouldn’t need a phone number to access it. The video and audio calling feature will be accessible on Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android, and personal computers.
Musk, who acquired the social media company about a year ago, has been driving the transformation of X into a comprehensive “super-app,” that offers a variety of services, including messaging, social networking, and peer-to-peer payments.
