Russian casualties have surged by 90% due to its ongoing offensive in the Avdiivka area near Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, according to the UK Ministry of Defence, Insider reports.
Although Russia has made some territorial gains, their efforts have resulted in significant losses of personnel and equipment. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces are launching counteroffensive operations in the south and east of the country in an attempt to reclaim territory held by Russia.
Since the full-scale invasion in February 2022, it is estimated that Russia has suffered around 150,000-190,000 “permanent casualties,” excluding the Wagner Group and prisoner battalions.
