Poland’s Opposition Parties Secures Majority

Poland’s opposition parties have emerged as the largest bloc in the country’s recent elections and are set to form the next government, Deutsche Welle reports.

The liberal Civic Coalition (KO) came in second place with 30.70%, followed by the center-right Third Way with 14.40% and the New Left with 8.61% of the vote.

These three opposition parties are part of a liberal and pro-European Union alliance and are expected to engage in coalition talks.

Despite the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party gaining the most votes among individual parties with 35.38%, it lacks a majority.

The far-right Confederation, which could potentially have formed a coalition with PiS, performed below expectations with just 7.16% of the vote.
