Amazon Launches First Test Satellites for Kuiper Internet System

Amazon has successfully launched its first pair of prototype satellites for the Kuiper internet network with a United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket, Reuters reports.

Amazon is investing $10 billion in Project Kuiper and plans to deploy 3,236 satellites into orbit to provide global internet service.

The US Federal Communications Commission requires the company to deploy half of its planned satellite constellation by 2026.

The low-Earth orbit satellite internet service market is estimated to be worth tens of billions of dollars in the coming decade.
