At Least 21 Dead After Bus Crash in Venice

At least 21 people have been killed, including two children, and 18 others injured after a bus crash in Mestre near Venice, Italy, AP News reports.

The accident occurred when a bus carrying foreign tourists fell from an elevated street and caught fire en route to a camping site near Marghera.

Venice’s Mayor Luigi Brugnaro described the scene as “apocalyptic” and declared a state of mourning for the city.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, as the bus was new and electric, and the street was not considered particularly problematic.
