Sweden Turns to Military to Assist Police Combat Gang Crime

Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has summoned the head of the military to discuss how the armed forces can assist the police with the surge of crime in the country, AP News reports.

The move comes after a surge in shootings and bombings, that has resulted in a dozen deaths this month, including innocent bystanders.

The recent violence is linked to a feud between rival factions of a criminal gang known as the Foxtrot network.

Sweden recorded over 60 shooting deaths last year, a record high, and this year is on a similar trajectory.
