Hollywood writers and studios have reached a tentative agreement, ending a nearly 150-day labor strike, CNBC reports.
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) unanimously voted to lift the restraining order and end the strike.
The agreement will last until May 2026 and includes a 5% minimum pay increase when the contract is ratified, along with additional bumps in 2024 and 2025.
The agreement provides protections against the use of artificial intelligence for writing or rewriting literary material, AI-generated material will not be considered source material.
For streaming, a new residual structure based on viewership has been negotiated, providing bonuses for high-budget subscription video on demand content.
The contract also improves contributions to health and pensions, raises screenwriter compensation, and renews a $250,000 showrunner training program.
