Ukraine’s Economy Grows for the First Time Since War Began

Ukraine’s economy has experienced its first annual growth since Russia’s invasion, with a 19.5% year-on-year GDP growth in the second quarter, Bloomberg reports.

The recovery has been partially attributed to increased domestic consumption as Ukrainians adapt to the relative stability of the ongoing conflict.

The country saw a significant decline in GDP at the start of the war, with extensive damage to the infrastructure and disruption of its grain exports.

The Ukrainian government anticipates further economic growth and the central bank projects a 2.9% growth this year.
