Italian police have arrested over 50 individuals from the ‘Ndrangheta mafia in a major operation involving more than 400 personnel, Reuters reports.
Among those detained, 38 have been sent to jail, six placed under house arrest, and eight issued orders not to leave their hometowns.
Authorities have linked the ‘Ndrangheta to various criminal activities, including large-scale drug trafficking, money laundering, and extortion.
The ‘Ndrangheta has surpassed Sicily’s Cosa Nostra as Italy’s most dominant mafia organization and has expanded its influence across Europe and globally.
