Russian President Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party has secured overwhelming support in regional and municipal elections in Russia, Al Jazeera reports.
Putin received more than 70% of the vote in the four annexed Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson, according to state media.
The Kremlin has hailed these elections as free and fair, but these elections have faced widespread criticism for alleged vote rigging.
Kremlin critics claim that elections in Moscow are easily rigged due to the capital’s electronic voting system, which they consider impossible to audit.
