Gabon’s military junta leader Brice Nguema has been inaugurated as the nation’s interim president, BBC reports.
The inauguration comes after Ngeuma staged a coup against President Ali Bongo, who had just been declared the winner of a disputed election last week.
Nguema was closely associated with the Bongo family throughout his career and is believed to be Ali Bongo’s cousin.
Gabon has been suspended from the African Union and faced condemnation from the UN and France following the coup.
