Representatives from nearly 40 countries, excluding Russia, attended a meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss a path towards peace in Ukraine, France 24 reports.
The meeting focused on Ukraine’s 10-point peace plan, which calls for the withdrawal of Russian troops and the restoration of Ukraine’s borders, including Crimea.
The meeting involved members of the BRICS bloc, including Brazil, India, China, and South Africa, but not Russia.
The head of Brazil’s delegation emphasized that any real negotiation must include all parties, including Russia.
However, the Saudi Arabia summit yielded few results on concrete actions to stop the war or reverse Russia’s territorial gains, Bloomberg reports.
China advocated for a cease-fire before peace talks, a stance opposed by France due to concerns it would freeze Russia’s territorial gains.
