Niger’s coup leaders have closed the country’s airspace in response to an ultimatum from West African states to reinstate ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, Al Jazeera reports.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is considering military intervention if the detained leader is not released by the set deadline.
The National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP), the group behind the coup, cited the threat of military intervention from ECOWAS as the reason for closing the airspace.
