Taiwanese chip maker TSMC to invest nearly $2.87 billion in an advanced packaging facility in northern Taiwan, Reuters reports.
The company plans to build the new plant at the Tongluo Science Park, which will create approximately 1500 jobs.
TSMC CEO C.C. Wei said the company aims to double its capacity for advanced packaging to meet the rising demand for artificial intelligence.
