Thai Parliament Blocks Election-Winning Party’s PM Bid

Thailand’s Parliament voted against the Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat as the next prime minister, AP News reports.

In May’s election, the Move Forward party emerged as the largest party and Pita’s coalition gained a majority in the House of Representatives.

Last week, Pita’s nomination was defeated in a joint vote of the House and Senate, with military-appointed senators refusing their support.

The Parliament debated whether Pita could be nominated again, and a motion to deny him a second chance passed 395-312.
