On Wednesday, another Quran burning took place outside Stockholm’s central mosque after permission was given by a Swedish court, Deutsche Welle reports.
The incident coincided with the start of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha and involved a 30-year-old Iraqi refugee who wants to ban the book.
Around 200 spectators and counterprotesters gathered, and one person was detained for attempting to throw a rock.
Morocco has condemned the incident and withdrawn its ambassador to Sweden for an indefinite period.
The book burning also adds to Sweden’s challenges in securing NATO membership due to opposition from Turkey.
