On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the armed rebellion by the Wagner group led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, AP News reports.
In a speech, Putin said the uprising was a “stab in the back” and called it a betrayal and treason.
Wagner has reportedly taken control of the military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don, which runs Russian offensive operations in Ukraine.
Prigozhin said he would punish Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu after Russian forces allegedly attacked a Wagner field camp with rockets and artillery.
