On Friday, a delegation of seven African leaders visited Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, AP News reports.
The group includes the presidents of Comoros, Senegal, South Africa, and Zambia, Egypt’s prime minister, and envoys from Kongo and Uganda.
The South African President said the “Conflict is affecting Africa negatively” as the African nations rely on food and fertilizers from Russia and Ukraine.
Zelensky urged the group to help free political prisoners and their protest against the occupation of Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.
On Saturday, the delegation will travel to St. Petersburg in Russia to meet with President Vladimir Putin.
