Scotland’s former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been arrested in relation to an investigation into the Scottish National Party’s (SNP) finances, BBC reports.
Two years ago, the police launched an investigation into what happened to £666,954 of donations given to the SNP by activists for a future referendum campaign.
At the end of 2019, the party’s accounts showed it had just under £97,000 in the bank and total net assets of around £272,000.
The police confirmed that the 52-year-old former SNP leader, who stepped down in March, had been taken into custody for questioning.
