‘Super Mario Bros. Movie’ Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide

On Sunday, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” became the first film this year to cross the $1 billion milestone at the global box office, Variety reports.

The animated video game adaptation from Universal, Illumination and Nintendo grossed $490 million in North America and $532 million globally.

On April 5, The movie opened in theaters and quickly generated $204 million in the following five days, becoming the biggest opening weekend of the year.
