French Food Giant Carrefour Freezes Food Prices of Hundreds of Basic Goods

Europe’s largest food retailer Carrefour has decided to freeze the prices of 200 products due to the rising food prices, reports Euractiv.

The price will be frozen for 100 “daily” products like detergent, flour, and baby diapers, and for 100 “healthy” products like eggs, vegetables and bread.

On Sunday, Carrefour CEO Alexandre Bompard told Journal du Dimanche that prices will be frozen from mid-March to mid-June.

In the past year, food prices in France have risen by 13.3%.
