Turkish authorities are targeting contractors responsible for the buildings that collapsed last week, as the death toll in Turkey and Syria passes 33,000, according to AP News.
Turkey reported the death toll in the country at 29,605. Including the Syrian death toll, around 33,179 people have been confirmed dead.
Turkey’s Justice Minister said 131 people were under investigation for their role in the buildings that collapsed.
Many in Turkey blame faulty construction due to widespread corruption and politics as reasons why the quake was so deadly.
