White Helmets Say the Search for Survivors is Over as Death Toll Crosses 24,000

The volunteer organization White Helmets announced the end of its search and rescue operations following the earthquakes that hit Syria and Turkey on Monday, according to CNN.

The group no longer has hope of finding more survivors trapped under the rubble after 108 hours of searching and is now searching for the bodies.

The death toll from Monday’s earthquakes in Turkey and Syria has passed 24,000, according to authorities.

On Saturday, Turkish authorities announced that 20,665 had died, while Syria reported a death toll of 3,513.
