On Wednesday, email address of over 200 million Twitter users appeared on a hacking forum, allegedly stolen and posted by hackers.
The perpetrators remain unknown and the data breach may have taken place as early as 2021, before Elon Musk took over the social media platform.
Claims about the size of the data breach varied with early accounts saying it affected 400 million email addressess and phone numbers.
Reuters were not able to independently verify the authenticity of the data.
