Russian Rouble Down 3% vs Dollar as Sanctions Weigh

On Tuesday, the Russian rouble fell 3% against the dollar after last week’s slide at the prospect of lower export revenue following restrictions on Russian oil.

Last week, the rouble lost almost 8% against the dollar after an oil embargo and price cap came into effect.

Against the dollar, the rouble lost 3% to 71.36. Against the euro, it was down 3.4% to 76.03. Against the yuan, it fell to 3.3% at 10.09.

This year, the Russian rouble has been the world’s best performing major currency against the dollar due to capital controls and reduced imports.
