On Saturday, Russian lawmaker and businessman Pavel Anton was found dead at a hotel in India. His death came shortly after his friend died at the same hotel.
Last week, Antov, 65, and three other Russian nationals were reportedly celebrating his birthday and checked in at a hotel in Rayagada, India.
At the hotel, Antov allegedly “fell out of a window,” according to Russian state media TASS. Indian police found no signs of foul play.
Two days earlier, his friend Vladimir Bidenov had died of a heart attack at the same hotel.
Antov was a regional lawmaker in the city of Vladimir, east of Moscow. He made his fortune in the meat industry with his company Vladimir Standard.
He critized the war in Ukraine in social media posts, in particular Russian missiles strikes against civilian targets in Ukraine this June.
