Thailand Warship Capsizes Leaving 31 Sailors Missing

On Sunday, Thai warship HTMS Sukhothai with a crew of over 100, capsized and sank during a storm in the Gulf of Thailand, leaving 31 sailors missing.

“This has almost never happened in our force’s history, especially to a ship that is still in active use.”

– Pogkrong Monthardpalin, Admiral Spokesman

The ship was on patrol 32 km east of Bank Saphan, when it got caught in a storm and took on water, which flooded and short-circuited its power room.

Three naval ships and helicopters were sent to assist, but only the HTMS Kraburi arrived in time to rescue 75 sailors, but 31 were still missing after the ship sank.
