Around 20 Indian soldiers and “a much higher number on the Chinese side” sustained minor injuries after troops clashed at a disputed border.
The skirmish occurred at Tawang in the Indian Arunachal Pradesh region and involved three Indian army units and 600 Chinese soldiers, according to reports.
After the clash, both sides withdrew and their commanders met to discuss the issue and “restore peace and tranquility,” according to the Indian army.
The Line of Actual Control, a 3,200 km border between the two Asian nations was established after the 1962 Indo-China war.
However, tension runs high at the disputed border. In June 2020, around 20 Indian and four Chinese soldier died in a clash.
