South Korea Miners Survived Nine Days Underground on Coffee

Two miners have been rescued after being trapped in a collapsed South Korean zinc mine for nine days, surviving on instant coffee powder.

On Oct. 26, two miners, aged 62 and 56, were stranded 200 meters underground after part of the zinc mine in Bonghwa collapsed.

They were finally rescued nine days later on Nov. 4 and were taken to a hospital, where the doctor confirmed their condition was stable.

The miners survived by drinking water that fell from the ceiling and using instant coffee mix powder as a meal, according to authorities.
