Poland has begun the construction of a temporary barrier along its border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, amid fears of Moscow sending a wave of illegal migrants.
Russia recently decided “to launch flights from the Middle East and North Africa to Kaliningrad,” and Polish authorities suspect Moscow plans to facilitate illegal border crossings.
Last year, the EU accused Belarus of “hybrid warfare” after it sent thousands of migrants to attempt and cross into EU territories in a bid to destabilize it.
The barrier along the Polish-Russian border will be 2.5-meter high and 3-meter deep and will be completed by the end of 2023, according to Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.
