On Monday, Russia hit Ukraine’s capital Kyiv with a wave of what appear to be Iranian-made “kamikaze” drones, killing eight.
Russia launched 28 drones against the Ukrainian capital, with only five hitting their targets, according to the Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
The drones are armed with explosives which will detonate upon impact, destroying the drone in the process, thus referred to as “kamikaze” drones.
Ukraine has also used “kamikaze” drones in the field, including the US-made Switchblade model.
The drones are believed to be the Iranian made Shahed-136, which Iran has allegedly sold to Russia for just $20,000 (£17,800) each, according to the US.
Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanani denies the allegations saying “We have not supplied any weapons to the sides of the Ukraine war.”
Last week, several Ukrainian cities including Kyiv were hit by Russian missiles, which left 19 dead.
