On Monday, Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, and several other cities were hit by a barrage of missile attacks, with an initial death toll of five people and dozens wounded.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country had fired long-range missiles targeting Ukrainian energy, military and communications infrastructure.
Putin said it was a response to “terrorist attacks” on Russian territory, most likely referring to the recent sabotage of the Crimean bridge.
Explosions were also reported in Lviv, Ternopil and Zhytomyr in western Ukraine. Dnipro and Kremenchuk in central Ukraine, Zaporizhzhia in the south, and Kharkiv in the east.
